Some Before and After
Just sharing some editing before and after. The original photo had the mom in there too... but I saw the potential in the tender moment between the girls. Oh my, were the skin tones in need of some adjustment! But that's almost always how it is. (Perhaps if I took the time to adjust my white balance... but for now I can fit it in PS) Can your eyes see how green their skin looks? How gray and blue? There are too many cool tones in there... some may like that, but it is not my taste! In Photoshop, I boosted the red at least 5 points, decreased the blue at least 5 points...and used a screen layer at least once, adjusting the opacity to taste. (Sorry, I can't remember specifically) I believe a great photograph these days is 50% the shot and 50% the post processing.

50% post processing?? Really?? I didn't think it was really that high of a ratio! wow! That must be why my pics are lacking because I don't have photoshop or anything like it.
Hmmm. I guess, I'll have to download the free trial and give it a whirl. Maybe I'll ask for it for Christmas.
Hey what version of PS do you have anyway??
Boy... hee hee, I dunno... that's just MY opinion! LOL!! Of course, that's not how it USED to be, before the digital age... but now a days... yeah... for me personally it's 50/50. Perhaps with more skill on the photography end my photos will need less pp and so the percentages change... but for me, I still need to rely on my PS! :)
One thing that interests me is how slight the change is in the vivid colors (orange in the bow and flowers on the dress) while the skin tones change so drastically. Have you tried using multiple color adjustment layers and erasing portions of each to amplify the skin tone adjustments? Doesn't always work, but it makes for some interesting effects sometimes. Keep up the great work!
